  • At least one alternate costume for Spider-Man was revealed in a new teaser for "Spider-Man: Miles Morales"

A new teaser for Insomniac Games’ upcoming “Spider-Man: Miles Morales” shows that the new, younger Spider-Man has at least one alternate costume in the game.

Aside from the Spider-Man suit that Peter wore in the PlayStation 4 exclusive “Marvel’s Spider-Man,” the new teaser shared by the developer on Instagram and Twitter shows Miles in a suit that is different from the red and black outfit he’s known for.

Instead, he’s sporting a shirt, hoodie and sneakers, an ensemble similar to one of the outfits Miles wore in the 2018 animated movie, “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.” It’s possible then that this is a prototype of the black and red outfit Miles is now associated with and is an unlockable costume option.

In the sneak peek, The Daily Bugle, albeit in an updated digital form called Daily Bugle Now, also chronicles how Miles has entered the social consciousness of the city as he fights side-by-side with the already established Spider-Man.

According to the Daily Bugle story, New Yorkers’ interests were raised when another wallcrawler joined Spider-Man in swinging from the city’s skyscrapers.

While Miles is notably not as polished nor as funny as Peter, the report pointed out that “he’s been training on rooftops and in alleys all across town with his mentor.” This also indicates that Peter may still have a role to play in this upcoming title and won’t just be a peripheral character.

The New York City newspaper also took notice of the new Spider-Man’s youth and enthusiasm over being a hero and made some speculations regarding his identity. “Is he a radioactive lab-engineered sibling? A gymnast with a penchant for justice?” the report said.

Unlike editor-in-chief J. Jonah Jameson, however, this Daily Bugle writer does not seem to be a Spider-Man critic. “The fact remains that New Yorkers eventually accepted the anonymity of our first Spider-Man,” the report continued. “I’d be lying if I said I didn’t love a mysterious masked vigilante. Does it really matter who wears the suit as long as he’s on our side?”

Meanwhile, GameSpot noted that a pre-order bonus costume called the T.R.A.C.K. suit, designed by Spanish comic book artist Javier Garron, will also be available for Miles.

Fans will be able to read up on the events that occur just before the expansion in the $16 novel “Spider-Man: Miles Morales - Wings of Fury,” which sees him taking on the Vulture and Starling.

Pre-orders for “Spider-Man: Miles Morales” are already available. The game launches side-by-side with the PlayStation 5 on Nov. 12.
