Marvel fans are excited to see the new Spider-Man (Tom Holland) premiere on the big screen in the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War." The popular hero will also be getting rebooted in 2017's "Spider-Man," which will take place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Not much is known about what will happen in the movie. However, news broke on Monday of another character that will be involved with Peter Parker.

Deadline reports that actress/singer Zendaya has been cast in a lead role in the upcoming "Spider-Man" reboot as a character named Michelle. She'll join Holland in a role that may or may not be a love interest for the web-slinging superhero. Zendaya is known for her role in the Disney Channel series "Shake It Up!" and "K.C. Undercover."

While Zendaya will reportedly play a character named Michelle, it's possible the studio could be covering up who she will really play. It's possible that Michelle could be Parker's love interest MJ, while putting a new spin on the character instead of naming her Mary Jane. In past "Spider-Man" films, Parker has been romantically involved with Mary Jane a.k.a. MJ (Kirstin Dunst) and in the two most recent movies, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone).

In the "Spider-Man" comics, there was also a character named Michele Gonzales. Gonzales is a lawyer whose brother, police officer Vincent Gonzales, was flatmates with Parker. Parker and Michele have a one-night stand following a wedding, which complicates their relationship, but eventually the two find peace with one another. Will the MCU be introducing and expanding on this Michele?

The "Spider-Man" reboot is expected to hit theaters on July 7, 2017 and will be directed by Jon Watts. This will be the third on screen version of Spider-Man after Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield from 2012-2014. This time around, Spider-Man will be involved in the MCU, meaning he could appear in other films like future "Avengers" installments instead of exclusively only being in the Sony released Spider-Man movies.
