“Star Wars: Episode 9” has a different title in Japan, and it may be hinting at a new beginning and setting up the future movies of the franchise.

The title of the upcoming film in most countries is “The Rise of Skywalker.” However, in Japan, the movie is being called “The Dawn of Skywalker,” CBR reported. The subtle change in the Asian country suggests that the film will set the stage for the future “Star Wars” movies, and they may continue to be focused on the Skywalker family.

“Star Wars: Episode 9” is the last film in the new trilogy. However, since the word “dawn” suggests that there will be a new beginning, it remains to be seen if the film will have a connection to the other movies that are currently being developed.

The first trilogy that the fans are expected to see after the JJ Abrams film will be written and produced by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who previously worked on the popular fantasy TV series “Game of Thrones” for HBO, Screen Rant reported. While details about the upcoming films are currently being kept under wraps, there have been rumors that suggest that they will be set in a time hundreds of years before the events in the original trilogy. The first film from this trilogy will be released in 2022.

Another trilogy is being developed by “The Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson. These films may also not have a connection to “Star Wars: Episode 9” because they are expected to be “outside of the Skywalker saga.” Preliminary work of these films is currently underway, but Disney is yet to announce an exact release date.

Meanwhile, the stakes are high for the upcoming Abrams film. After “The Last Jedi,” a section of the fan base feels that the sequel trilogy will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. One of the main criticisms of the films is that they appear to be “ rehashing plotlines from George Lucas’ original trilogy,” Screen Rant reported.

Although “Star Wars: Episode 9” may set the stage for the future movies, it appears the fans will have to wait for a while before seeing the continuation of the Skywalker saga. It remains to be seen if characters like Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and Rey (Daisy Ridley) will return at some point in the future, just as Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and some of the other veteran characters returned in the sequel trilogy.
