Carrie Fisher’s General Leia was supposed to play a lead role in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” After the sad passing of the actress, director JJ Abrams decided to use some old footage to bring the character back to life on the big screen. A new theory looks at how this was achieved, and there are also other theories about the Knights of Ren and the Emperor that have surfaced online.

After the first teaser trailer of the film, the fans got a glimpse of General Leia in a jungle planet in the recently released stills of the movie. According to a theory by Screen Rant, this is actually a modified scene of Leia from “The Force Awakens,” in which she sends Rey (Daisy Ridley) on her final mission towards the end.

Using computer magic, Leia is made to look older in the scene, to account for the time jump in “The Rise of Skywalker.” She has gray hair and wrinkled skin to show the signs of aging. Many things like the hairstyle and the costume can be altered using graphics, but it is unclear how many scenes the late actress filmed against a green screen, which would have made the director’s job easier.

Another group of characters that the fans may be eagerly waiting to learn more about are the Knights of Ren. According to a theory by Screen Rant, this group may have a strong Mandalorian connection, something that most fans don’t expect. One of the Knights has a battle-axe that is very similar to the one in Dryden Vos’ (Paul Bettany) collection from the “Solo” movie, suggesting that the character who wields it has a connection to the famous warrior race and planet of the galaxy.

Another big character who is expected to return in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” is the Emperor himself. But, the question many fans have is that if Palpatine survived how did he manage to stay hidden for so long. According to a theory by Screen Rant, the Dark Lord of the Sith could have done this by cutting himself off from the Force, just like Luke (Mark Hamill) did during his exile, to avoid being detected by other Force wielders.
