The upcoming second season of “Supergirl” will feature some new characters, where two will be series regular roles while the other three will be recurring roles.

Melissa Benoist’s superhero character Supergirl and her alter ego Kara will soon be meeting new villains and some new office co-workers, as well as a few new National City residents. Showrunner Greg Berlanti and his team have added five major characters to the upcoming “Supergirl” Season 2, according to TVLine. One of the characters includes Lex Luthor’s sister Lana.

The said character is said to be in the age range of 25 to 35 years old. The character Lana has been described as “sexy,” “smart” and “determined to get what she wants,” as indicated in the report. Luthor’s sister will be moving to National City to escape the “shadow” of her brother. However, it is still unclear how the said character may affect Supergirl and her alter ego Kara’s world.

Another character to be featured in the CW show would be Nick Farrow, who is the son of a famous reporter. The character is said to be looking to make his mark in the news industry. However, Nick’s conflict will be whether he can “leave behind his former selfish and hedonistic ways.” The said character has also been described as a “brash leading man.” Nick is also expected to clash with Benoist’s Kara at CatCo.

Apart from the two characters, loyal viewers of the show will also see three new recurring characters in the upcoming new season. One would be a detective named Maggie from the newly formed Science Police. The said police team’s responsibility will be dealing with alien threats and metahumans, as stated in the same report. Aside from Maggie, the female leader of Project Cadmus called The Doctor has also been added to the show’s character list. The Doctor is known to surgically implant her prisoners with alien technology.

Meanwhile, the fifth major character added to the CW show is a veteran journalist named Snapper Carr. The character is said to be appointed by Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) to remake the news division through old-school tactics. Avid comic book fans may recall a similar named character during the Silver Age of Comics, Cinema Blend reported. Snapper Carr is known as a Justice League sidekick in the comic books. However, the Snapper character in “Supergirl” Season 2 does not appear to share similar traits as the one in the comic books.

Casting activities for the said new characters are reportedly ongoing. “Supergirl” Season 2 is set to return to the small screens this fall on the CW.
