“Supernatural” stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are now saying goodbye to the long-running CW series after filming for its final episodes ended on Thursday, Sept. 10.

Ackles, who plays Dean Winchester, said in an emotional Instagram post that his “alarm went off with a heavy tone” when he woke up on the final day of filming. He expressed his gratitude to the people he worked with on “Supernatural” and the fans who supported them for 15 seasons.

“Today is the final day of a 15 year journey,” he wrote. “One that has changed my life forever. To those I have worked with on this journey and to those who have watched and supported...you will never understand my great appreciation for you.”

“'Thank you’ doesn’t cover it. There just aren’t words. I’m so grateful for these memories that I will carry with me forever. What a ride it has been. And what a run,” the actor added.

The two photos that Ackles shared from his final day of filming “Supernatural” included Baby, the Impala that Dean drove throughout the series. Earlier, it was revealed that Ackles will be taking the car the home once production wraps.

Ackles’ on-screen brother Jared Padalecki, who plays Sam, also expressed gratitude to his fans for the love and support he received for the past 15 years “Supernatural” has been on television.

After production wrapped, Eric Kripke, creator of the series that aired its first episode in 2005, shared a GIF of the first “Supernatural” scene they filmed and paid tribute to producer Kim Manners, who passed away in 2009.

“This was the first #Supernatural scene we shot. Today will be the last. I'm grateful & love you all beyond words,” he wrote. “But it's only over when you say it is, #SPNFamily. In the words of Kim Manners (RIP): Kick It In The A--.”

Back in March, the production of the CW series was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. “Supernatural” Season 15, episode 13 was the last one to air on March 23. Filming restarted last month in Vancouver, Canada.

“Supernatural” returns to The CW on Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. EDT with the first of the final seven episodes, titled “Last Holiday.”

“Supernatural” Season 15, the last one for the show, will conclude on Nov. 19.
