"Teen Mom 2" star Kailyn Lowry, who gave birth to her fourth child on July 30, has shared that she drank her placenta in a smoothie.

The 28-year-old reality star took to Instagram Stories on Tuesday to post a picture of herself holding a blended drink. Lowry asked fans if they could guess what she was drinking, before later revealing that it was her placenta mixed with fresh fruit and almond milk.

"Couldn't taste the placenta at all!" she wrote.

Lowry has joined a host of celebrities, including Chrissy Teigen, Kardashian sisters — Kourtney, Kim and Khloé — Katherine Heigl and Hilary Duff, who have consumed their placenta after childbirth.

Duff, who welcomed daughter Banks Violet in October 2018, talked about the experience of consuming her placenta in a smoothie on Dr. Elliot Berlin’s "Informed Pregnancy" podcast last year.

"It was the most delightful smoothie I’ve ever had," she said. "I haven’t had a smoothie that delightful since I was ten. It was calorie-filled with juice and fruit and everything delicious."

Duff said at the time that she decided to consume her placenta to prevent postpartum depression and to stop post-birth bleeding.

Heigl, meanwhile, took her placenta in the form of pills. The "Grey's Anatomy" actress welcomed son Joshua Bishop in December 2016, and shortly after her C-section, she was informed about a company that freeze-dries pills.

"This guy came, he was a total cowboy: Cowboy hat, cowboy boots … and a bag of placenta!" she told People. "He took it to his wife who freeze-dried it and turned it into pills and I’ve been taking them.”

"Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star Kourtney was the first to start eating placenta pills among her sisters. After her baby Reign was born in 2014, the reality star took to Instagram to recommend them to her fans.

"Yummy...PLACENTA pills! No joke...I will be sad when my placenta pills run out. They are life changing! #benefits #lookitup," she captioned the image.

Following in their sister’s footsteps, both Kim and Khloe have also consumed placenta post-childbirth.

In 2018, Teigen revealed that eating her placenta helped her keep postpartum depression at bay after she had her second baby, Miles.
