The COVID-19 pandemic defied political, racial, and geographical limits, infected more than half a million and killed over 26,000 people. While the majority of the world stands still and brace themselves for its impact on their economy and health, there are some areas where the deadly novel coronavirus has not yet penetrated. Despite the rapid spread of the virus, there are several places on Earth that have not, however, reported any single case.

The COVID-19 started in Wuhan, China, and has spread to its neighboring countries. Japan, Singapore, and South Korea were the first few countries that have experienced the fury of the deadly virus. Interestingly, while these countries were scrambling to find a solution to the pandemic, North Korea reported that it remained unharmed.

Geographically, North Korea borders South Korea and China. But, it is also one of the first countries to close its borders to the world immediately. It also set intensive anti-epidemic measures to prevent the virus from spreading. Pyongyang health officials, recently, released thousands of patients who were under quarantine and declared that they are cleared of the COVID-19.

While there are still a few hundred North Koreans under quarantine, officials established new measures lately to fight the spread of the novel coronavirus. It includes more intensive controls on water reservoirs and tanks. The communist region also conducts thorough disinfecting of its currency notes and proper waste disposal from vessels that are in its territorial waters.

Just like North Korea, Turkmenistan is another state located in Asia that has no reported COVID-19 case yet. It heavily restricted travel made a state-wide awareness campaign and mobilized mass clean-ups. Turkmenistan also advertised local remedies with reportedly anti-viral qualities, reports Newsweek.

Tajikistan has no COVID-19 case, too. Authorities have launched several measures like travel restrictions and public gatherings. But, Tajikistan defied the World Health Organization when it celebrated Nowruz and several other festivities.

In the Middle East, Yemen has zero COVID-19 cases. At present, Yemen is experiencing one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, according to the United Nations. In the African region, South Sudan has no reported COVID-19 case. Other African countries with zero COVID-19 cases include Zimbabwe, Burundi, and Lesotho.
