Hollywood star Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson are currently in isolation in Australia following the confirmation that both contracted the novel coronavirus while Hanks was filming an Elvis Presley film.

In a tweet on Thursday night, Hanks posted a photo of himself and Wilson, stating that he is thankful to the care he and his wife are receiving as they undergo isolation. “We are taking it one-day-at-a-time,” he tweeted.

On Wednesday, both Hanks and Wilson took to social media to reveal that they tested COVID-19 positive after exhibiting some coronavirus symptoms. At that time, Warner Bros. also confirmed that Hanks was indeed in Australia for filming.

Following Hank’s revelation about his positive test results, Australia’s Nine Network established a crisis response plan. The move was made following Wilson’s appearance on the channel’s morning talk show, CNN reported.

Wilson also performed at the Sydney Opera House over the weekend in front of around 200 people. The famous establishment has since been disinfected.

Following the Hollywood revelation, Australian officials said the couple were receiving treatment at a hospital in Queensland, USA Today reported. Production for the movie has since been halted as the team awaits further news on Hanks’ recovery.

Hanks and Wilson are the first in Hollywood to have confirmed that they tested positive of the coronavirus. However, over the past few days, multiple production groups have already canceled filming and releases amid the COVID-19 outbreak in the United States.

Among the movies that were delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak is the much-anticipated live-action release of “Mulan.” The said film has been postponed indefinitely, the Los Angeles Times reported. “F9” and “No Time to Die,” a James Bond film, have also been postponed.

In terms of filming productions, Marvel Studios’ “Falcon and the Winter Soldier” was shut down amid an ongoing coronavirus outbreak in Europe. Filming was set for Prague, Czech Republic.

Aside from Hollywood productions being delayed by the global COVID-19 situation, Disney, which was supposed to release “Mulan,” is also shutting down California theme parks starting Saturday.

According to Sky News, Disney California Adventure Park and Disneyland Park will both be closed starting Saturday through the end of the month. Florida’s Disney World Resort will also shutter starting Sunday.

Last week, a staff member at the Disneyland Paris tested positive of the coronavirus but the resort did not shut down at that time. A spokesman said at that time that COVID-19-infected staff did not interact with any guests.

Disneyland Paris will also be closed over the weekend until the end of the month.
