A new poll from Fox News this week shows Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden with 50% support, compared to 38% support for Trump. The survey reveals that Trump supporters are motivated by enthusiasm for the incumbent, while Biden supporters are backing the Democratic candidate out of fear of another Trump term.

Trump, who recently sought an apology from CNN over similar poll numbers, took to Twitter to denounce the poll and Fox News, a network that is often favorable to Trump and Republicans.

“Fox News is out with another of their phony polls, done by the same group of haters that got it even more wrong in 2016. Watch what happens in November. Fox is terrible!” Trump tweeted early Friday.

The Fox News poll gave Biden a wider lead than other recent polls. The latest Quinnipiac University poll shows Biden at 49% support, and Trump at 41%.

Trump may be losing support as the U.S. deals with multiple crises. Multiple states, such as Florida, Arizona, and Texas are experiencing a spike in coronavirus cases. Trump has also been criticized for his response to the death of George Floyd and for not doing enough to unify the country. The economy is also in poor shape, with 1.5 million new unemployment claims being filed in the last week.

An Economist/YouGov poll this week revealed that 68% of Americans believe the U.S. is on the wrong track, with only 24% of Americans believing the country is heading in the right direction.

On Saturday, Trump will hold his first rally since March, with his health advisers warning against holding the event during the pandemic. There are just 135 days until the election on Nov. 3.
