Reports that claimed Britney Spears was secretly engaged to Sam Asghari and was “seriously thinking” about having a third child via surrogacy was debunked by Gossip Cop on Monday.

It said the report, which originally appeared in the weekly magazine NW, was false. The report said, “Britney is ready for her next adventure, another baby.” The magazine said "rumor has it that" the pop princess was secretly engaged to her model boyfriend, and the two were planning to add to their family, “this time using a surrogate.”

The magazine quoted an anonymous "inside source" saying, “she’s already found a woman close to her family home in Louisiana who is willing to carry a baby for her.” The source added that Spears was also “looking into gender-selection IVF treatments” as she wanted a daughter this time around.

Explaining her choice for a surrogate this time, the magazine claimed Spears had “postnatal depression” in the past, and so the singer was worried that getting pregnant again would bring back the issue.

“She is feeling good mentally these days, but she doesn’t want to leave anything to chance,” the alleged source said, noting that everyone around her agreed surrogacy was the “best option.” The article concluded by claiming that currently, life was good for Spears as she has a “rumored ring on her finger and the potential for a daughter to complete her family.”

As Gossip Cop points out, if this alleged inside source truly existed, the magazine wouldn’t have to use phrases like “rumor has it” while speaking about her alleged engagement and plan to use a surrogate to have a child. Nor would they say she was wearing a “rumored ring.” Last December, the same magazine claimed Spears got engaged to Asghari on her birthday. The rumor was debunked when an inside source told Gossip Cop the story was untrue, and time has proven this.

A December 2017 article speculated the couple was going to get married on Christmas and NW even stated that Spears' father was “trying to put the brakes” on the engagement as he was “concerned about Sam’s motives.” The present article, however, claimed “Britney’s family like[s] him… even her dad.”

The reports also didn't mention anything about Spears being urged back to rehab, another claim made by the magazine in October. Gossip Cop spoke to a source close to Spears, who confirmed there was “no truth” in the new story published in the magazine.
