Jennifer Aniston is not tied to Justin Theroux because of a death that occurred during their 2015 honeymoon, despite rumors. Gossip Cop debunked reports that the actress “can’t escape” from Theroux because of the unfortunate incident.

In August 2015, the duo invited their friends and family for their honeymoon celebration in Bora Bora in French Polynesia. One of them was producer Joel Silver, whose personal assistant, Carmel Musgrove, tragically drowned in a lagoon during the celebration. Musgrove’s parents filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the producer and the case is still ongoing.

According to NW, Aniston is upset that the case is still ongoing as she feels it is the last thing “tying her” to Theroux. The magazine quoted an insider saying, “Jen desperately wants this tragic situation resolved as soon as possible… The longer this case goes on, the longer she’ reminded of her failed relationship with Justin, given that it all happened on their honeymoon.”

The alleged source goes on to say that the two might have an uncomfortable reunion if they are called as witnesses.

“They may have to face a deposition, which would mean they’d be stuck in a stuffy attorney’s office together. But that’s the last thing either of them wants,” the source added.

The premise is untrue as the former couple had left Bora Bora several days before the death and hence aren’t “witnesses” as they weren’t on the island when the incident occurred.

Gossip Cop reached out to Aniston’s representative who on the record said the story is totally untrue and that the wrongful death lawsuit “has nothing to do” with the actress and Theroux.

The estranged couple announced their split earlier this year after being married for two years.

"In an effort to reduce any further speculation, we have decided to announce our separation. Normally we would do this privately, but given that the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly. Whatever else is printed about us that is not directly from us, is someone else's fictional narrative. Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another," they said.

However, several rumors about Aniston's dating life surfaced post the announcement including some claiming she has reunited with her ex-husband Brad Pitt. However, all the rumors were completely false.

In August, Gossip Cop had debunked another report on the website that falsely claimed that Aniston was going to court with Brad Pitt to help him win back custody of his kids. The magazine had quoted an insider saying, “Jen is appalled at the way Brad’s being treated and will do anything she can to get him through this. She’s more than willing to stand up as a character witness and reiterate that Brad is a dedicated, responsible dad who lives a clean and sober life.”
