Netizens slammed Tucker Carlson following claims about the intention of the Black Lives Matter movement. Several netizens rallied against the Fox News host on Twitter with #TuckerCarlsonIsARacist.

The “Tucker Carlson Tonight” host claimed on Monday that the Black Lives movement for racial justice and fair policing was not about black lives, Daily Beast reported. Carlson reportedly called the protests over George Floyd’s death as “Black Lives Matter Riots” and claimed that liberals wanted to replace law enforcement with an “armed woke militia to patrol cities.”

The 51-year-old journalist asked to imagine the Black Lives Matter rioters having weapons and immunity from prosecution, HuffPost reported.

Carlson said that the liberals were talking about partisan law enforcement. He claimed that it was a rule in third world countries and the move was an attempt to bring the same to the U.S.

Carlson’s comments were noticed by several netizens, prompting criticisms online. Twitter was flooded by outraged reactions, along with #TuckerCarlsonIsARacist.

Some netizens defended the Fox News host amid the backlash against Carlson on social media.

Carlson claimed that the protesters were trying to drive racial division in the U.S. instead of uniting the country, Fox News reported. He reportedly said that tribal conflict would destroy the U.S. faster than any plague.

Carlson, who called the protesters a cult, called to cease the movement before more innocents get hurt.

The death of George Floyd prompted worldwide protests against racial discrimination and police violence. Floyd was apprehended by Minneapolis policemen on May 25. A white policeman was caught on camera kneeling over Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes while arresting Floyd.

An independent autopsy said that Floyd died of asphyxiation from sustained pressure when his neck and back were compressed during the arrest; thus, cutting off the blood flow to his brain.

Meanwhile, the medical examiner’s office released a report on Monday stating that Floyd’s death was due to cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint and neck compression, CNN reported.

The trial for Floyd's case is on-going. The bail for the said former Minneapolis police officer has been set at $1.25 million, Aljazeera reported.
