In what was meant to offer a comforting moment of unity amongst those who are self-quarantined, celebrities banned together to sing lines from John Lennon’s “Imagine.” However, it seemed most of Twitter did not appreciate the good-natured attempt, saying the video accomplished the opposite of its intent.

The trend was started by none other than “Wonder Woman” star Gal Gadot. The 34-year-old actress shared her feelings about a video she saw on social media, where an Italian man on his balcony played “Imagine” on his trumpet to others quarantined, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“There was something so powerful about this video,” she said.

Gadot then added that staying at home for “day six” of quarantine has her feeling “philosophical.” So, she decided to try and recreate that experience by singing the first line of “Imagine” herself, quickly followed by short clips of other celebrities singing, each completing the next line of the song.

While Gadot’s post has more than four million likes, Twitter’s response to the video has been primarily negative. Many users felt that this video was a sorry excuse for celebrities and the wealthy to feel like they accomplished something during the global pandemic.

On a similar notion, others added that it’s easy to be quarantined when you’re a celebrity living in “[expletive] mansions and estates” and that this is exactly “what’s not going to make me feel better.”

The clip has continued to spark outrage since Gadot first posted it Wednesday night.

Along with Gadot, many other notable celebrities ranging from actors, singers and TV personalities joined in on the trend. Kristen Wiig, Jimmy Fallon, Zoe Kravitz, Natalie Portman, Sia, Amy Adams, Mark Ruffalo, Ashley Benson and Cara Delevingne are just some of the celebrities who offered clips of themselves singing a line from the song. Benson and Delevingne even added a small portion of choreography to their clip, along with fellow actor Kaia Gerber.
