A picture of a wax figure of pop singer Beyoncé that surfaced online Tuesday has taken the internet by storm.

Posted by Twitter user “Joe,” the picture was apparently taken at New York’s Madame Tussauds. The user gave a well-meaning caption to the picture.

The reactions to the picture from the social media users were nothing short of savage. While some were enraged at how the statue did not resemble Beyoncé, others found it extremely funny.

Most reactions were centered around how the statue appeared to be blatantly whitewashed — the "Queen Bey," as she is fondly called by her fans, looked perplexingly white as opposed to her original skin color.

"It's a good thing you're not talking about Beyoncé. Cause this white woman is definitely not her," a disapproving fan wrote in response. Some even used the Oscars-inspired hashtag #TussaudsSoWhite.

Others thought the statue resembled other celebrities more than Beyonce’. The list of names of that emerged included Lindsay Lohan, Mariah Carey and Kate Hudson.

Some users also pointed out Beyonce’s hair were too flat. The only thing the statue seemed to have got right was Beyonce’ signature pose. A Twitter user said this wasn’t the first time the singer was wronged when it came to wax statues.

The second Beyoncé statue in Allure magazine's editor-in-chief Michelle Lee’s tweet (in pink) is not from Madame Tussauds, but from Louis Tussaud Waxworks, an establishment with a reputation for subpar craftsmanship, according to Spin. The picture had gone viral in January.

Trying to control the damage, Madame Tussauds gave a statement to TMZ Wednesday: “At Madame Tussauds, our talented teams of sculptors take every effort to ensure we accurately colour match all of our wax figures to the celebrity being depicted. Lighting within the attraction combined with flash photography may distort and misrepresent the colour of our wax figures which is something our sculptors are unable to account for at the production stage.”

The museum also unveiled a statue of Kylie Jenner the same day. The reality television star also posted its picture on Instagram. Some Beyoncé fans got upset over how Kylie Jenner’s statue perfectly resembled her while their icon’s did not.

There have been other celebrities too whose wax statues have gone horribly wrong. Recently, a statue of ace footballer Christiano Ronaldo was unveiled in Madeira International Airport before it was renamed Christiano Ronaldo Airport. Many thought it looked like a cartoon version of Ronaldo at best while some felt it looked like other less flattering characters such as Alfred E. Neuman of Mad Magazine fame.
