Breaking their absence in the music scene for three years, U2 is finally releasing a new track which will appear on the soundtrack of the animated film “Sing 2” slated for release on Christmas Day.

“Your Song Saved My Life” is the band’s first offering after being on a hiatus since 2019. Apart from the new music, U2 fans are also in for a double treat as the band’s frontman Paul David Hewson or simply, Bono, is making his animated screen debut as the rockstar lion Clay Calloway which is also the central character in the movie, according to Deadline.

The movie follows the story of a koala named Buster Moon ( Matthew McConaughey) and his all-star cast of animal performers as they prepare to mount an unforgettable show in the entertainment capital of the world. To do this, they must persuade the world’s most reclusive rock star – Calloway to join them.

The movie will have covers of three U2 songs: “Where The Streets Have No Name” (to be performed by Tori Kelly, Taron Eagerton, Scarlett Johansson, Reese Witherspoon, Nick Kroll), “Stuck In A Moment You Can’t Get Out Of,” (to performed by Johansson) and “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” (a duet between Bono and Johansson), the report said.

Meanwhile, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the band’s 1991 album “Achtung Baby” this month, U2 will post on its TikTok account, some archived footages from its past performances and tours throughout the band's musical career.

The soundtrack of “Sing 2”is set to be released on Dec. 17 and will also feature music from Elton John, Halsey, Pharrell Williams and Billie Eilish.

A BTS song “Not Today” is written as a part of the soundtrack of "Sing 2" according to Illumination Entertainment Fanon Wiki as reported by Koreaboo. Ludacris, Taron Egerton, Jim Cummings and Bruno Mars among others, are credited as singers of the English version of the track.
