Melissa E. Hathaway is stepping down from its position as a United States Acting Cyber-security Chief.

The acting senior director for cyberspace for the National Security and Homeland Security Councils is reportedly leaving her position later this month. Hathaway headed President Obama's 60-day review on the nation's cyber-infrastructure.

In 2007, Hathaway was hired to work on cyber security issues. She was also serves as a cyber security aide during the Bush administration.

Hathaway said that her decision in quitting the position is personal but she pointed out that she cannot continue to drive the security change because she is not empowered.
