Veterans Day 2017: Top 20 YouTube Videos Of Soldiers' Homecoming, Surprises

To pay tribute to those who have fought for the country, YouTube released the top homecoming videos on the platform for this year’s Veterans Day.

Veterans Day honors those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, as well as those who died fighting for the nation.

Besides the homecoming videos, YouTube also released its own video honoring veterans, titled “#VeteransDay: Thank You For Everything.”

The clip was trending on the platform on Friday and Saturday:

YouTube also pointed out the success of veterans who on the platform. One of them is Missy Lynn, a U.S. Air Force veteran who has more than 600,000 subscribers on her two channels. Jesse Wellens (PrankVsPrank) is another Air Force veteran who has a popular channel, with more than 10 million subscribers on YouTube. Other popular veterans on the platform are: Nick Bare, Erika Bernie and Jackie Aina.

“From heartwarming homecoming videos to personal vlogs about their service experiences, veterans turn to YouTube to help share their stories and form community,” said YouTube Chief Marketing Officer Danielle Tiedt in a post. “Thanks to their videos, we’ve been able to learn about some of the incredible individuals who serve our country …”

Tiedt said every Veterans Day Youtube see a “resurgence in popularity” of certain videos genres on the platform, which includes homecoming videos. The clips include soldiers coming back and surprising their children, mothers, friends and their furry companions.

“Millions of people have been moved by these videos of veterans coming together with their loved ones,” said Tiedt.
