On “The Voice” Season 15, episode 7, viewers saw the end of the Blind Auditions and the premiere of the fierce Battle Rounds. Judges Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson prepared their team members to battle it out against one another before one contestant was eliminated.

Team Kelly kicked off the Battle Rounds with the “American Idol” alum pairing aspiring singers Cody Ray Raymond and SandyRedd together to sing, “Cry to Me” by Solomon Burke. With some help from Clarkson’s musical advisor Thomas Rhett, Cody and SandyRedd impressed the judges.

Levine was quick to let the two contestants know that neither was going home on Monday night seeing as he intended on saving whoever Clarkson chose to eliminate. The “Catch My Breath” singer struggled to make a final decision, forcing host Carson Daly to step in to speed things up.

Clarkson eventually chose Cody, leaving SandyRedd up for elimination. Although Levine had his eye on the contestant, Shelton and Hudson also attempted to steal the singer, forcing her to choose which of the three judges she wanted as her new coach. In the end, SandyRedd joined Team Jennifer.

Next up was Team Blake, which paired old friends Michael Lee and Joey Green against one another. Before the two performed “A Thing Called Love” by John Hiatt on stage, they went to rehearsals, where they met Shelton’s guest advisor, Keith Urban.

As the contestants sang in front of the country legends, Urban noticed Lee appeared to be holding back. He encouraged the aspiring singer to let go of his fears and give it his all. Apparently, it was very good advice, seeing as Shelton chose Lee as the winner of the Battle Round.

This time around, the judges chose to share a few words of wisdom and allowed Green to be eliminated.

The final performance of the night was from Team Jennifer, who chose Patrique Fortson and Colton Smith to sing, “God Gave Me You” by fellow judge Shelton. After having mini-meltdowns over Hudson’s advisor, Halsey, the singers did their best to show their strengths before hitting the stage.

After doing a soulful rendition of Shelton’s song, Hudson chose to save Patrique. However, the cover of the song was so unique, Shelton decided to save Colton from elimination and made him the newest member of Team Blake.

“The Voice” Season 15 airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on NBC.
