Although it’s hard to look through AMC’s upcoming companion series “Fear the Walking Dead,” fans are still wondering what will come next for the characters on “The Walking Dead” after the climactic Season 5 cliffhanger. While not much is known, it looks like the audience can expect a bit of conflict within Alexandria when Season 6 starts.

For those that don’t remember, the last time we saw Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his group of survivors, they’d just moved into the safe haven of Alexandria and taught the people there exactly what the world they’d secluded themselves from looks like. Meanwhile, everyone’s favorite Season 1 good-guy, Morgan (Lennie James), made his triumphant return to the series by laying the smack-down on a pair of The Wolves and rescuing Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Aaron (Ross Marquand). The grateful duo led him back to Alexandria just in time for him to see his best-buddy Rick execute someone. According to showrunner Scott Gimple, this act will immediately cause a bit of a rift between the former allies.

“Right after [Rick] pulled the trigger, Morgan was there and they’re face-to-face. What have we heard from Morgan? What have we seen from him? He said, ‘All life is precious,’ and the first thing he sees Rick do is shoot a man in the face,” Gimple told Entertainment Weekly. “So right there, the facts point towards a bit of conflict there, a bit of an issue. And will the Alexandrians, after that gunshot, be completely down with what Rick was saying just a few moments before? Bit of a question mark there.”

The news of a potential battle between the people of Alexandria and Rick’s survivors was previously teased in the first promotional poster for San Diego Comic-Con. In it, Morgan and Rick are standing in front of each other with their respective factions behind them. Luckily for the people of Alexandria, odds are good that this conflict won’t last very long as the show has already promised to reveal who exactly The Wolves are, as well as introduce a few new characters. Sadly, as CinemaBlend notes, no concrete release date has been set for the return of "The Walking Dead," but many speculate Oct. 11 given the premiere schedule for "Fear the Walking Dead" in August.
