A hotfix for “Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War III” has been released upon the game’s launch on Steam. SEGA/Steam

“Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War III” has finally arrived on Steam. Unfortunately, players who purchased the game at launch noticed how the graphics settings won’t cooperate when making changes to ensure the quality of the real-time strategy game. Relic Entertainment and SEGA have now released a hotfix to address this issue.

Just hours after launching the game on Valve’s digital distribution platform, developer Relic Entertainment came up with a hotfix to resolve the problem gamers were voicing online since purchasing and playing the game. Apparently, the game debuted with a problem on the graphics settings. Players who tried to edit the settings to improve the performance of the game did not succeed in applying changes. Hence, they were stuck with poor graphics and were unable to make the changes they wanted to implement.

With the hotfix, the developer said that players will now have the capability to make edits to the graphics settings. So PC players can max the graphics settings of the game for a more visually entertaining experience. The developer said that to apply the hotfix, all that the players need to do is to re-launch Steam.

However, it appears the hotfix is not working for everyone as some players have continued to complain about the issue on the Steam Community. For example, one player complained that after re-launching Steam the problem still persisted on his end. Another player stated that the hotfix may have broken his game, so he decided to reinstall it. Despite the issue, “Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War III” continues to gain good ratings from critics with the game obtaining mostly positive reviews. Harcore Gamer’s Kevin Dunsmore gave the new “Warhammer 40K” a 4.5/5 rating saying that the new installment takes the best elements of the previous games to form a game with deep strategic gameplay. On Steam, the developer and the publisher proudly shared the 9/10 scores from Gamer.nl and Gamereactor, 4/5 from Empire Online, 17/20 from Jeuxactu.com and the 86/100 rating Gamestar.

Interestingly, Forbes reported that critics and gamers seem to not agree on whether the new “Warhammer 40K” game is good or not. Compared to the first two entries in the franchise, “Dawn of War III” has disappointed gamers who are saying that this has apparently “moved too far in the MOBA direction.” Gamers complain about several shortcomings of the game, which explains why it only has 56 percent of recommendation from Steam gamers.

For interested players, here’s the official description of the game: “Step into a brutal battle between three warring factions. In ‘Dawn of War III’ you will have no choice but to face your foes when a catastrophic weapon is found on the mysterious world of Acheron. With war raging and the planet under siege by the armies of greedy Ork warlord Gorgutz, ambitious Eldar seer Macha, and mighty Space Marine commander Gabriel Angelos, supremacy must ultimately be suspended for survival.”
