Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) is underway in San Francisco where new MacBook Pro laptops have been rolled out, along with a price cut announcement to its MacBook Air laptops.

Shares in Apple plunged 2.9 percent to $140.48 -- after a 6.5 percent climb in the week leading up to the much-anticipated event. The stock briefly headed even lower after CNBC reported that Apple planned to price new iPhones aggressively, and refresh its entire line of the popular smartphones.

Chief Executive and founder Jobs had not appeared halfway through the event.
