A Russian television reporter suffered injuries after a man attacked him during a live broadcast Wednesday. The correspondent was covering Russia’s Paratrooper’s Day celebration from Gorky Park in Moscow where he was punched in the face by a bystander yelling obscenities.

Video of Nikita Razvozzhayev, a reporter for Russian national channel NTV, went viral in Russia, with over 400,000 views of the attack on the channel's website. Razvozzhayev can be seen walking off the punch, while the cameraman showed a wide shot of him and the attacker.

The live feed quickly shifted from the field to the studio, where the anchor cited "problems" with the feed.

The man, who police identified as Dmitry Orlov, 32, yelled, "This is our country. We’ll take Ukraine, [explicative]" at Razvozzhayev. When Razvozzhayev asked Orlov to stop the commotion, he refused, according to a translation from Russian media outlets.

"Who are you to talk to me in that way," Orlov replied. "If you are going to talk to me like that I will f***ing beat you."

He then attacked Razvozzhayev, throwing a right-handed punch that landed flush on his cheek. Razvozzhayev staggered around, holding the side of his head, while Orlov followed him.

The live broadcast ceased, cutting back to the studio. The attack puzzled onlookers, and Razvozzhayev appeared to be shaken up after the punch.

Razvozzhayev recorded a report, praising paratroopers as heroes, shortly before Orlov came on the scene.

"No one celebrates their day like them," Razvozzhayev said.

"It is worth noting that the attack occurred at a time when [Razvozzhayev] was explaining why the Airborne Forces are called 'elite' troops," NTV stated in a report on the incident.

Police arrested Orlov and transported him to a local police station for questioning, according to CBS News. Police stated that the suspect had no ties to the Airborne Troops.

Razvozzhayev suffered several injuries, including a black eye and a broken jaw.

Paratroopers' Day is a Russian holiday for active duty airborne troops and veterans.

The Russian airborne troops, also known as VDV, formed before World War II. The squad’s first parachute jump occurred Aug. 2, 1930, in Moscow’s Military District. Twelve paratroopers performed the jump. The day became an airborne forces holiday during the Soviet era.
