“Wentworth” Season 8 will be the penultimate one for the show, but that doesn’t mean that the cast and crew are cutting down on the story in any way. With a massive 20 episodes for the Australian TV series, the fans can look forward to a lot of content that will be spread across the next two years.

Filming of the last season started during the last week of October in Melbourne. Along with the returning cast members, the show has added three new characters.

The first big addition to the show is Kate Box, who will be playing the role of a former top dog in the prison. Zoe Terakes will take on the role of the trans character Reb Keane, and Jane Hall will be joining the show as the General Manager Ann Reynolds, who will be strict with the discipline of the inmates.

“Since its debut in 2013 ‘Wentworth’ boasts a large and loyal worldwide following and continually attracts some of the country’s finest actors and production creatives, we are thrilled to welcome Kate, Jane and Zoe on board,” Foxtel Executive Director of Television, Brian Walsh told TV Tonight.

Walsh expressed gratitude for the team behind the show for bringing the series to life on screen with their talents for the fans. He also called the show the “shining star” of the network’s Australian dramas.

Walsh previously told TV Tonight that the studio is happy with the team they have assembled to tell the last few stories for the show. The TV series is expected to come to an end sometime in 2021.

“Wentworth” Season 8 release date hasn’t yet been announced, but the show is expected to premiere sometime in 2020. The title of the first episode is “Resurrection.” The production of the season is supported by Film Victoria, Fox Show Case reported.
