“Good Will Hunting” has been a must-watch film for the last 20 years, and it will be for years to come. The drama was released to select theaters on Dec. 5, 1997, but it was 20 years ago today, Jan. 9, 1998, that it was shown all around the country, allowing everyone to see this story about a gifted janitor who just needed a little help from a psychologist to find his way in life.

The film helped solidify the careers of its cast members, who all went on to have consistent careers. Here’s what they’re up to now:

Matt Damon (Will Hunting)

This role really jump-started Damon’s acting career, as did his film “Saving Private Ryan,” which also came out in 1998. That same year, he also starred in the crime-drama “Rounders,” which means that with three hit movies, 1998 was a huge turning point in his career. He went on to act in the “Ocean” movies, headline the “Bourne” franchise and star in other hit movies, including “The Departed” and “The Martian.” Most recently, the actor took more unique roles, in the 2017 movies “Suburbicon” and “Downsizing.”

Robin Williams (Sean Maguire)

Already a huge star by the time “Good Will Hunting” came out, Williams’ entertainment journey only continued to flourish afterwards, with movies like “Man of the Year” and his “Night at the Museum” franchise. He also starred in his own TV series, “The Crazy Ones,” with Sarah Michelle Gellar, before he died in 2014.

Stellan Skarsgård (Professor Gerald Lambeau)

After this movie was released, Skarsgård just kept on doing what he had been doing, which was acting in many movies and shows consistently. He was in over five movies in 2000 alone. He played Bootstrap Bill in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, regular Bill in the “Mamma Mia!” film, which he’s reprising for the upcoming sequel, and he’s also working on four other new movies.

Ben Affleck (Chuckie Sullivan)

The late 90s were the start of Affleck’s good years, with movies like “Mallrats” in 1995, “Chasing Amy” in 1997, then “Good Will Hunting” and “Shakespeare in Love” in 1998 after that. From there, Affleck starred in 2001’s “Pearl Harbor” drama, the 2003 superhero film “Daredevil,” 2009’s rom-com “He’s Just Not That Into You,” 2014’s book-to-film adaptation “Gone Girl” and most recently, Affleck’s been playing the role of Batman in the DC Extended Universe.
