“Black Mirror” Season 5 still doesn’t have a release date, but Netflix is giving fans a treat. “Black Mirror: Bandersnatch” will come out this week.

“Bandersnatch” will release Friday, Dec. 28 at 3 a.m. EST on Netflix. The special is expected to be an interactive, choose-your-own-adventure style movie.

In typical “Black Mirror” style, Netflix has only released vague details about the plot. “In 1984, a young programmer begins to question reality as he adapts a sprawling fantasy novel into a video game and soon faces a mind-mangling challenge. Welcome back,” the synopsis says.

The trailer, seen above, was released Thursday morning, and it hints at the movie’s choose-your-own-adventure format. “Change your mind. Change your life. Change your past. Your present. Your future,” title cards read.

The cast for “Black Mirror: Bandersnatch” includes Fionn Whitehead, Will Poulter and Asim Chaudhry.

The trailer for “Bandersnatch” calls the movie “A Black Mirror Event” and has a separate landing page calling it a Netflix film, indicating that fans will have to wait for Season 5. There were rumors that all of Season 5 would drop in December, but it sounds like fans will have to wait until 2019.

“Black Mirror” Season 4 was very well-received. The series earned six Primetime Emmy Awards. Two, outstanding television movie and outstanding writing for a limited series, movie or dramatic special, went to “San Junipero” while “U.S.S. Callister” was awarded another four.
