The first “Fantastic Beasts” movie established the film franchise as its own story, but the second is happy to connect to the “Harry Potter” franchise. The Warner Bros. film will bring back these familiar names (though they mostly have new faces).

[Spoiler Alert: That means you should turn back now if you don't want to know which characters appear in “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.”]

Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law/Toby Regbo) Dumbledore doesn’t have a grey beard or even a headmaster’s office yet. He’s just a Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher—who happens to also intimately know our villain. Considering Regbo will also play the wizard, it seems like we’ll get flashbacks to young Dumbledore and Grindelwald as well.

Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp/Jamie Campbell Bower) was introduced in the first “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.” He wants to change the world so that wizards rule over muggles. Flashbacks may reveal more about how he came to be a dark wizard. Bower and Regbo are the two of the only actors to appear in both the original “Harry Potter” franchise as well as the “Fantastic Beasts” franchise.

Nagini (Claudia Kim) was known to Potterheads as Voldemort’s snake and one of the horcruxes. However, the casting of Kim revealed that Nagini was once a woman. She is a Maledictus, meaning she suffers from a blood curse that will eventually turn her into a snake permanently.

Minerva McGonagall (Fiona Glascott) doesn’t have a huge part in “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald,” but she is in there. It’s just a cameo, though, so don’t get too excited.

Nicolas Flamel (Brontis Jodorowsky) wasn’t actually seen in “Harry Potter,” but he was certainly mentioned enough in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” The wizard created the stone, which produced the Elixir of Life. Flamel has supposedly managed to achieve immortality.
