August started out on a high note for Olympian Simone Biles. She placed first at the 2019 U.S. National Gymnastics Championships in the all-around and became the first to perform several different skills. But, the celebrations may have to be put on hold due to her brother, Tevin Biles-Thomas' recent arrest.

Biles-Thomas is believed to be responsible for a New Year's Eve shooting that left three people dead and two injured in Cleveland. He was charged with multiple counts of murder, involuntary manslaughter and felonious assault and one count of perjury, according to the Cleveland Division of Police and the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office said, per Fox News.

The 24-year-old is currently being held in a Georgia jail and is due for arraignment in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court on Sept. 13. It is unclear when he will be extradited to Ohio.

Despite being the brother of a 22-year-old gold medalist, Biles-Thomas did not grow up with his sister. USA Today reported that the two, along with two of their siblings, were placed in foster care "because of their mother's drug and alcohol abuse."

Upon hearing the news, their maternal grandfather and his wife, Ron and Nellie Biles, started taking care of the kids in the north Houston suburb of Spring, Texas. However, at some point, Biles-Thomas returned to Ohio, as reports state that he attended high school in Cleveland. He also served in the army, according to the Houston Chronicle.
