Queen Elizabeth II is a fan of both Kate Middleton and Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

The Queen is particularly close to Sophie. In fact, when the royal family gathers, the Queen would usually ask Sophie to stay longer. Also, Queen Elizabeth II has been spotted attending masses in Balmoral with Sophie.

In addition, the Queen had bent some rules for Sophie that she didn’t do for Princess Diana and Sarah Ferguson. Her Majesty allowed Sophie to stay in the palace even before she and Prince Edward got engaged. Due to this, many are convinced that Prince Edward’s wife is the Queen’s favorite royal. However, a new source claims that the monarch is also a fan of the Duchess of Cambridge.

“The Queen is a fan. Kate is unflappable. Her mantra is very like the Queen’s keep calm and carry on approach in life, and she has the added benefit of making the Royal Family seem almost normal and in touch,” royal biographer Claudia Joseph said.

According to Express, between the two, Middleton and Camilla Parker Bowles are actually the most treasured royal for Queen Elizabeth II because both will be taking an important role in the monarchy. Camilla and Middleton are the next queen consorts. They will take on those roles when Prince Charles and Prince William take over the throne.

The publication noted that due to Camilla and Middleton’s status within the line of succession, they are often pushed to the front at royal engagements. This is evident in their engagement over the weekend.

Middleton and Camilla were spotted standing next to Queen Elizabeth of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office building. Meanwhile, Sophie stood in another veranda with Meghan Markle and Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence.

“She [Markle] was not as prominent perhaps as some people might have expected, but there’s a pecking order,” Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty magazine, previously told People. “There was no slight intended, but William being the older, more senior brother would go out [first] with his wife.”
