Sega has finally come out to explain why it pulled the demo version of “Yakuza 6: The Song of Life” from the PlayStation Store. Unfortunately, the company accidentally gave players access to the full game instead of just the limited demo version.

On Tuesday, Sega took to Twitter to shed light on why it had to remove the demo from the PlayStation Store. “We apologize, but have had to remove the ‘Yakuza 6: The Song of Life’ demo from the PlayStation Store. We are as upset as you are, and had hoped to have this demo available for everyone today. We discovered that some were able to use the demo to unlock the full game.”

In a follow-up tweet, the Japanese video game company shared that it is currently looking into the issue and investigating the nature of the problem. It did not indicate if the demo version will be re-released after the investigation, but it thanked fans for their patience.

Some fans who were initially perplexed upon learning that the demo was removed from the PlayStation Store took to Reddit to express their thoughts on the issue. “I am a little bit into Chapter 2, started to wonder why this demo is so long. Then saw a tweet about this. Had no idea I accidentally got the full game? This is a bit … insane,” Reddit user LastBestHopeF3 wrote.

Apparently, the demo version that Sega wanted to release was supposed to end at Chapter 1. Moreover, players were supposed to not have access to the in-game arcades and play “Puyo Puyo” or “Virtual Fighter 5.” However, these and other restrictions were disabled in the demo version. This means players who managed to download the demo version had the full game instead.

Despite the leak, many fans said that they will still support the full game when it officially comes out. “I still plan on buying the full game when it comes out, as well as ‘Yakuza 0’ … I support Sega now more than ever since yeah, ‘Yakuza 6’ is pretty good from my experience,” a Reddit user with the handle DestinyDecade wrote. “Just started Chapter 3, gonna guess this isn’t part of the demo. Was planning to preorder anyways, and now will for sure,” another Redditor (ZacBroski) stated.
