Does Queen Elizabeth II have favoritism among her grandchildren?

On Saturday, the monarch was seen in Gloucestershire attending the christening of Zara and Mike Tindall’s daughter Lena. Queen Elizabeth II was photographed braving the weather sans Prince Philip. She was holding an umbrella and the order of service upon arrival.

Katie Harris, a journalist for Express, pointed out that the monarch’s presence at the christening of Zara’s daughter raised some eyebrows from royal watchers because she skipped the same event for Prince William and Kate Middleton’s son Prince Louis last July. However, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge was reportedly “relaxed” about Her Majesty’s decision.

The issue triggered favoritism issues among the Queen’s grandchildren. This isn’t the first time, Queen Elizabeth II did something in favor of Zara.

Back in 1989, the monarch gave permission to Zara to attend Royal Ascot with her mom Princess Anne so she could watch horse races despite the event holding a strict age restriction at the time. Royal Ascot is among the Queen’s favorite dates in her diary every year because it gives her the opportunity to combine her public duties and love of horses and horse racing.

Princess Anne inherited the qualities from the Queen, and so did Zara. Both have competed professionally in the equestrian world and the mother and daughter have ridden for Team GB in the Olympic Games.

Princess Anne was the first member of the British royal family to compete in Olympics in 1976. Zara joined the London 2012 Olympics and is the first royal Olympic medalist.

When it comes to Queen Elizabeth II’s favorite grandchild many believe that it’s neither Zara nor Prince William but Prince Harry. Her Majesty and the Duke of Sussex tend to share a lot more fun grandson-to-grandmother relationship.

Meghan Markle’s husband even revealed that the monarch enjoys participating in his playful takedowns. He is also not shy in cracking jokes involving the Queen.

On Queen Elizabeth II’s 92nd birthday, Prince Harry joked about his struggles in finding a perfect gift for the monarch.

“Tonight we are celebrating The Queen’s birthday but Your Majesty, if you do not mind me saying, you are not someone who is easy to buy gifts for,” he said.

Also, Queen Elizabeth II welcomed Markle warmly into the royal family. In addition, Her Majesty gave Markle more patronages than Kate Middleton when the Duchess of Cambridge was still new to the Firm.
