Fans have been waiting for seven years, but could 2016 finally be the time for Brand New to put out their first new album since 2009? The band is expected to release a new single called “I Am A Nightmare” on Friday and some are hoping a record announcement is made the same day.

Monday night, Amazon posted a listing for “I Am A Nightmare” and put the track up for preorder. The new song will be released on Friday, May 20, and a 30 second preview of the track is available on the site.

The band has been teasing a new record for the past couple of months. Lead singer Jesse Lacey has said at shows that a new record is on the way and the group has shared several photos on Instagram of them inside the studio working on new tracks.

Alternative Press confirmed in January that Brand New would be releasing a new album this year. It’s also rumored that their fifth studio album could be the final one from the band. Lacey told a crowd at a show in Nashville in October 2015 that “This isn't going to last much longer,” before thanking everyone in attendance.

The last time Brand New released a new studio album was in 2009 with “Daisy.” Since then the band has put out a single in 2015 called “Mene” and played a new track live called “Sealed to Me.” In December, the band also made “Leaked Demos 2006” available for the first time. “Leaked Demos 2006” were originally untitled songs that went out before the release of their 2006 album, “The Devil and God Are Raging Inside of Me.” It’s unclear if “I Am A Nightmare” will be another new single or a track off the new album they’ve been teasing.

Brand New will be on tour with Modest Mouse this summer from June 28 to July 31. Could the new album drop before they head out on the road?
