Camilla Parker Bowles may or may not be Queen Mother when Prince William becomes the new king.

The royal family is very particular when it comes to succession. Thus, many are wondering if Prince Charles’ second wife, Camilla, will be Queen Mother when the Duke of Cambridge takes over the throne.

According to author Jessie Quinn of Cheatsheet, the Duchess of Cornwall may not receive such status because she is not Prince William’s mother. However, legally she’s the Duke of Cambridge’s stepmother which could carry enough weight in the monarchy to assume the said role.

Being the Queen Mother is not really a big deal. In the British royal family, it’s simply a courtesy title to differentiate a widowed Queen or Princess Consort from a current Queen or Princess Consort.

However, just like the other members of the royal family, she will likely continue to attend events and engagements on behalf of the monarch until her retirement and she will hold the Queen Mother title until her death.

Meanwhile, between Camilla and Kate Middleton, the latter is showing signs that she could be the next royal matriarch. On Wednesday, the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out to attend an engagement sans Prince William.

According to body language expert Judi James, Middleton has found her grit and determination. In her recent sighting, the royal mother of three is developing a strong sense of individual branding and she’s taking more royal role than Camilla, which suggests that she could be the new matriarch.

In related news, Princess Diana once blamed Camilla and Prince Charles’ affair for her failed marriage. In her infamous interview, the late Princess of Wales said that her relationship with Prince Charles didn’t work because “there were three of us in this marriage.”

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall dated before they found their first spouses. However, the royal family didn’t approve of Camilla for the apparent heir because she’s an experienced woman. So, Camilla ended up marrying Andrew Parker Bowles.

In a TV documentary titled “The Real Camilla: HRH the Duchess of Cornwall,” Camilla returned to Prince Charle’ arms because of her troubled marriage.

Andrew was never nice to Camilla. The Duchess of Cornwall was reportedly unhappy because she was the betrayed woman.
