“Hit The Floor” will not be coming back for a fifth season on BET.

After three seasons on VH1 and one season on BET, the James LaRosa-created dance series has come to an end. The network announced on Friday that it’s decided to cancel the show.

“At this time, BET Networks will not be moving forward with a fifth season of ‘Hit The Floor,’” according to a BET spokesperson. “We are grateful to the most passionate fans ever who helped to bring one more season of the #DevilsNation to the screen, and the incredible cast and dancers. We would especially like to thank and recognize the acclaimed Executive Producer and Creator of the series James LaRosa for his passion and vision. We look forward to finding ways to continue in partnership.”

BET is not currently talking about once again moving the show to another network.

The basketball drama aired for three seasons on VH1, beginning in 2013, before moving over to BET in 2018 for Season 4. This past summer’s eight-episode (now final) season starred original cast members Katherine Bailess (Kyle Hart), McKinley Freeman (Derek Roman), Jonathan McDaniel (German Vega), Brent Antonello (Jude Kinkade) and Jodi Lyn O’keefe (Lionel Davenport), along with newcomers Teyana Taylor (London Scott), Kyndall (Jamie Lawson), Kristian Kordula (Noah) and Cort King (Pax Lowe). Original star Logan Browning (Jelena Howard) also made appearances.

Before this cancelation news and the Season 4 finale of “Hit The Floor,” which will now be considered the series finale, in August, International Business Times got the chance to speak with LaRosa about his plans for Season 5.

“Oh my God, yeah,” he told IBT about already knowing what he wanted to happen next. “Season 5 is already — I absolutely know what Season 5 is. A hundred percent. And that’s actually why I have to take that chance every single season. I’m writing toward the next season, in the season before. That’s just how I work, and I think that’s how the show works well.”

What chance was he referring to? The big cliffhangers at the end of Season 4 — Pastor Curtis’ death and the end of the Los Angeles Devils.

“On a show like ‘Hit The Floor,’ we always have these sort of like big endings, and I always have a choice, every season, to [have it that way or not], and that’s the question I ask myself every single time,” LaRosa said. “I have to do it because you never want to leave anyone in the lurch. You never want to be that [show] where you’re like, ‘Well, they really left us on that [expletive] up note.’”

He continued: “It’s hard to do a show like this and get bound by that. So, for me, it was more important to be true to the story, to get the biggest bang that I could that would affect the most people, and there’s always a little risk in this business. So, it was a risk I was willing to take.”

Sadly, fans won’t get the chance to see the aftermath of those major events. But at least they’ll always have four seasons of romance, backstabbing, exciting dances, schemes and drama, drama, drama to rewatch.
