Federal workers can expect an extra day off this holiday season thanks to President Trump.

Trump signed an order on Friday giving all federal workers the entirety of Christmas Eve off, making it a federal holiday. This will also be a paid time off holiday for those that work for the Federal Government.

“All executive departments and agencies of the Federal Government shall be closed and their employees excused from duty on Thursday, December 24, 2020, the day before Christmas Day,” the order states.

This makes 11 U.S. federal holidays.

Many businesses and companies choose to follow the Federal Government holidays and allow their employees off work as well, so many Americans might have Christmas Eve off for the first time.

Former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton only allowed half days when Christmas fell on a Friday, according to the New York Post. This was in 1998, 2009 and 2015.

Many Twitter users are sitting on the fence about this decision, spinning it in a negative way.

Others appeared thankful for this news, regardless of whether they worked in government or not.

President Trump has previously made it known that he’s a huge believer in saying “Merry Christmas,” and has also accused Democrats of trying to “erase the holiday.”

“Let me begin by wishing you all a very Merry Christmas. Remember the word?” Trump told the crowd at a rally in Georgia this month. “Remember? We started five years ago, and I said, ‘You’re gonna be saying ‘Christmas’ again.’ We say it proudly again. Although they’ll be trying to take that word again out of the vocabulary.”
