George RR Martin is hard at work to finish “Winds of Winter,” which is the next book in “A Song of Ice and Fire.” In a recent interview, the author joked about going to extreme lengths to finish the novel soon.

While the fans across the globe are enjoying the final season of “Game of Thrones,” which is based on the “A Song of Ice and Fire” novels, Martin is busy writing his books. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the author confirmed that he is hard at work to finish writing the next novel. With possibly five more shows in development, Martin is preparing to unleash a lot of content based on Westeros.

Talking specifically about finishing “Winds of Winter,” Martin said he has been in “isolation” to focus on his writing. The author joked about his staff chaining him to the typewriter to make sure he completes the book soon.

“They're making me eat healthy food,” Martin said. “It's horrible!” he jokingly added.

Although Martin has limited his public engagements, like visiting conventions, to a large extent over the past few years. However, he still finds time for a few distractions. His team announced on Twitter that he will be featured in Neil deGrasse Tyson’s “STARTALK” Season 4 as a special guest. The show airs on the National Geographic Channel.

Martin will be heading to Chicago in October to accept the Carl Sandburg Literary Award, he announced on Twitter. Over the years, the author has won many prestigious awards, but “Winds of Winter” is expected to break new records because the book will be released after “Game of Thrones” show has gained massive popularity. The publishers are also eagerly looking forward to this launch.

Martin did not share the release date of “Winds of Winter.” The author has promised to tell the fans when the book is complete on his official blog.
