The delay in the release date announcement of “Winds of Winter” is annoying to eager fans, but it is easy to forget just how many sample chapters George RR Martin has released already.

He has also read a few other chapters at various events, which have made their way online through people who attended. On top of all this, the “Game of Thrones” TV series has already spoiled many plotlines, and the final season is sure to spoil more stories and the ending, too.

The following article contains spoilers of the next book in “A Song of Ice and Fire” series titled “Winds of Winter.” Be warned.

A total of seven sample chapters are already in the public domain. Martin tends to remove a sample chapter from his official website as soon as he adds a new one, but the fans have managed to save all the content that he has released so far. These seven chapters don’t include the unreleased chapter readings of Martin.

The summary of all the seven chapters, and the links to the full chapters, have been posted on BookBub. The first chapter is about Theon Greyjoy and his interaction with King Stannis.

After escaping from Ramsay, Theon will find himself in chains once again. King Stannis means to kill him, but what Theon is more afraid of is being captured by Ramsay again.

The second chapter, titled “Mercy,” is actually the story of Arya. In this story she assumes the name Mercy and kills a Lannister guard. After learning all the secrets from the Faceless Men, she goes back to calling herself a Stark.

The chapter “Alayne” is about Sansa, another Stark kid who has to hide her identity. She is back at the Eyrie, where plans are being made for her to get married. The only problem is the young Lord Robert loves Sansa and doesn’t want her to get married to someone else.

There are two sample chapters about Arianne, a Dornish princess. She is now the heir to Dorne, and she has to consider making alliances carefully.

The sample chapter about Barristan Selmy is from the paperback version of “A Dance with Dragons.” In this chapter, Barristan is seen preparing to fight a war in “Winds of Winter.”

Tyrion is arguably the most loved character in Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” series. A sample chapter of this character is available on “A World of Fire and Ice” app. He hasn’t met with the Dragon Queen yet in the books, and the readers will find him at a camp of slave masters in the chapter.

While the sample chapters are good to keep the fans occupied for the time being, they are no substitute to the book itself. In a recent interview with “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” — a video of which has been posted on YouTube — Martin was asked about the delay. The author promised that the next book he will complete is “Winds of Winter.”

In a blog post, Martin promised that the fans will get to read the ending of “A Song of Ice and Fire.” “Winds of Winter” will not be finished this week or even this month, but the book is coming.
