  • "The Witcher" Season 2 has no release date yet
  • The second season of the hit Netflix series has been in production for a while
  • A new leak hints at a possible "The Witcher" Season 2 storyline clue

A new set of photos, apparently taken during the filming of the hit Netflix series "The Witcher" Season 2, hints at the possibility of a new storyline courtesy of the Wild Hunt.

The leaked behind-the-scene images were shared on Twitter by the subReddit account NetflixWatcher. From the photos, actors riding on horses could be seen donning heavy armor, and one can easily mistake them for the Nilfgaardian army. However, the dark grey but spiky armor, as well as their weapons, heavily suggest this being the Wild Hunt.

Reliable "The Witcher" insider Redanian Intelligence confirmed this after the photos started to surface on various social media outlets. The insider claimed its sources confirmed that "this is indeed the Wild Hunt in 'The Witcher' Season 2." Apparently, the images were taken during the series' filming at Saunton Beach in North Devon.

For video game players, the Wild Hunt is the subtitle of "The Witcher 3" game and the final nemeses. Meanwhile, readers of the novels will remember them as those who pursued Ciri at the start of "Time of Contempt," the fourth book in the series. It is not yet known what role the Wild Hunt will play in "The Witcher" Season 2.

However, many fans believe that apart from their distinct role in the TV series, they might just have a brief appearance, setting them as Geralt's nemesis later, perhaps in the season finale. In "The Witcher" lore, the term Wild Hunt refers to the former band of Aen Elle elves. They are known to enslave other species following the events in the Conjunction of Spheres.

Meanwhile, "The Witcher" Season 2 showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich told Syfy in a recent interview that "[T]he renewal gave everyone permission to take a lot more chances, bigger gambles." She added that "Some of the things we’re working on right now are just beyond comprehension in terms of size and scope. I could not be more excited."

For now, it is unknown how the team behind the hit series would incorporate the Wild Hunt in the storyline. However, considering the Wild Hunt's importance in "The Witcher," they might have a special spot in the series along the line.
