Philadelphia police said they would press charges against a woman for the shooting deaths of her daughters and their father.

That is assuming she recovers from a gunshot wound, which was found to be self-inflicted. She incidentally left instructions not to be resuscitated when she was conscious during transport to the hospital.

The officers were alerted to a disturbance in the northeast section of the city before 10 p.m Monday and found a middle-aged male dead of a gunshot wound to the head.

There were two girls as well, a four-year-old and a ten-month-old with gunshot wounds to the head. They were rushed to St Christopher’s Hospital for Children, at which point, they were pronounced dead just after arrival. Their names have not been released as yet pending the death notification to the father’s relatives.

A 28-year-old woman who is believed to be the perpetrator was taken to Torresdale Frankford hospital in critical condition, where the police claimed she was being held as a prisoner.

Captain Jason Smith said she had bought a 9 mm handgun the previous day. He added that while she was being taken to the hospital in the back of a fire rescue unit, she admitted to shooting all of the victims, and then demanded not to be brought back if she flat-lined.

The captain also intimated there had been some domestic issues between the couple revolving around child support payments. He did confirm that she would be charged with three counts of murder, possessing an instrument of crime, and child endangerment if and when she recovers.

Doctors said the prognosis is good though she is scheduled to have surgery. She is expected to survive.

Captain Smith added he did not have any information showing there was a record of domestic problems at the address where the man and the two children were killed.

However, he had been dealing with several recent homicides in the area. Apparently, it had been quite a busy week for the homicide department, as he noted the department had recorded 13 more murders so far this year than in 2018.

Incidentally, the record of 353 homicides in 2018 was the highest annual total since 2007, so it is safe to say this year's statistics are going to beat that record.

It should be a clear cut case assuming the woman recovers, considering she did already admit to the shootings.
