The trailer of the film teases Max holding something magical in his hands. A set of images that have been released recently by Entertainment Weekly reveal that the object is actually some sort of a crystal, and this object may have something to do with Barbara Minerva (Kristen Wiig) becoming Cheetah.

What is this magical object? According to a theory by CBR it may be the Chaos Crystal from DC comics. In the comics, this object is from the Sphere of the Gods and it has the power to make wishes come true of people who hold it in their hands.

The trailer of “Wonder Woman 1984” shows Max holding the crystal in his hands. While the role of the crystal in the movie may be limited to things like the transformation of Barbara, it will also open the door for another powerful villain’s entry in the future.

In the comics, Darkseid looks for the Chaos Crystal by claiming that it was made in Apokolips. It remains to be seen if the object will be used in world building for Diana (Gal Gadot).

The return of Steve (Chris Pine) can also be explained through the crystal. It remains to be seen if Diana will be the one who will wish for her boyfriend to return or if it is a part of Max’s plan.

“Wonder Woman 1984” is directed by Patty Jenkins. It will be released on June 5. The film will introduce the Golden Eagle armor of Diana.
