One month after he was found dead in his Woodland Hills, California home, “Young and the Restless” star Kristoff St. John ‘s cause of death has been revealed.

The actor, who was 52 when he passed, died from heart disease combined with an accidental alcohol overdose according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. According to a report from CBS, his official cause of death was listed as “hypertrophic heart disease... and effects of ethanol.”

St. John notably struggled following the death of his son, Julian, who committed suicide in 2014. At the time of his death, his former co-star, Mishael Morgan, addressed his pain in a tribute to the actor following news of his passing.

“I’m thankful you’re not in pain anymore, such a deep pain that no one could understand. No parent should have to bury their child, I’m sorry you had to,” she said at the time. “I’m sorry you’ve been hurting so much...You were one of a kind.”

Following the news of his death, CBS released a statement that they were going to honor the actor in a tribute to his character. In addition to a small dedication during one episode the week of his death, CBS announced that there would be a special storyline in honor of the character as well, which is slated to air beginning in April.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the tribute episodes will see familiar actors like Morgan briefly returning to the show's canvas. Shemar Moore will return for two episodes as Malcolm Winters and will be seen on screen on April 25 and 26. Meanwhile, Morgan, whose character died in 2018, as well as Victoria Rowell, will appear as themselves in a tribute episode airing on April 29.

The storyline, which will take place over the course of one week, and is set to begin airing April 23, will see the residents of Genoa City all gathering together to honor St. John's character, Neil Winters, after news of his unexpected death arrives in town.

It is unclear if his on-screen daughter, Lily (Christel Khalil), will also return to for the tribute episodes, as her character is currently in prison for causing the car accident which killed Morgan's character.

St. John’s final episode aired on Feb. 6, three days after his death.
