Zack Snyder stunned the whole world when he announced that his version of “Justice League” will be heading to HBO’s streaming service, HBO Max, in 2021. In a watch party held by Snyder for “Man Of Steel,” the filmmaker also decided to spill some secrets about the movie that started the DC Extended Universe in 2013.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the 54-year-old director opened up about various aspects of the movie that were unknown to the public before. Snyder started by saying there was definitely a Doomsday reference at the start of the movie and also confessed that some people were actually able to find the reference.

Early in the movie, there is a shot of a vandalized moon visible from Krypton. The “300” helmer revealed that the damage was caused by none other than Doomsday, one of Superman’s greatest foes. Speaking about the character, Snyder noted that he really loves Doomsday.

“I really like the character. From the beginning, I thought it would be cool to have Doomsday involved somehow in the movies,” Snyder said.

Doomsday went on to be a part of the movie “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice.” The supervillain fought the holy trinity of Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman after causing destruction in Metropolis city. Doomsday was one of the earlier characters to kill the last son of Krypton in the comics and Snyder chose to feature that moment in the movie, too.

Later in the discussion, he also quashed the rumors that Aquaman saved Superman when he fell into the sea after saving the people working inside the oil rig. The netizens came up with the theory that the whales which rescued Superman after the explosion were sent by Aquaman.

“I do not know, it would be cool. I always wanted to have an out of focus shot,” Snyder said.

The King of Atlantis made his debut in 2017’s “Justice League” and was portrayed by Jason Momoa.

The “Dawn Of The Dead” director concluded the Q&A session by addressing the most controversial part of the movie – Superman killing General Zod. A lot of people criticized Snyder for showing Clark Kent snapping Zod’s neck at the end of the movie and wanted him to change the ending.

Snyder believes that the scene was really important and shows that Superman chose “us” and saved the family because he loves this planet.

“We can debate forever whether Superman would kill Zod. But the real question is his legacy. He is choosing. He is choosing us,” Snyder said.

“Man Of Steel” garnered positive reviews and earned more than $668 million globally.
