An 18-year-old man has been arrested after he stabbed his teen sibling while having an argument in the parking lot of a Connecticut mall.

Jovanie Hall, of Bridgeport, was taken into custody from his home shortly after the stabbing and was facing multiple charges.

The Trumbull Police Department said the incident took place when Hall was picking up his two brothers from the Trumbull Mall on Saturday night, reported Connecticut Post.

"At approximately 8:00 PM, Hall drove to the Trumbull Mall to pick up his brothers, and as they were walking in the parking lot, Hall began stabbing the sixteen (16) year old victim," the police department said in a statement.

The 16-year-old boy sustained multiple stab wounds but managed to escape with the help of the third sibling.

"Their other sibling intervened by grabbing Hall, allowing the victim to escape the attack and run back inside of the mall before police were contacted," the statement read.

A number of police officers were patrolling inside the mall at the time and they provided medical attention to the victim, according to News 12 Connecticut.

"The sixteen (16) year-old victim sustained multiple stab wounds, causing serious injuries so Trumbull EMS responded and transported him to St. Vincent's Hospital for treatment," police added.

Hall managed to flee the scene before officers arrived. The 18-year-old sustained minor lacerations to his hand. Officials said no other injuries were reported during the incident.

Following his arrest from home, Hall was charged with first-degree assault, carrying a dangerous weapon and breach of peace. He was being held on a bond of $250,000. Hall was scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior court Monday.

Police presence at the mall was increased of late following a series of disturbances.

"Trumbull Police have maintained an increased presence at the mall in recent weeks due to a series of incidents involving groups of disorderly youths who have caused disturbances, most often on weekends," the police department said. "Additional officers will remain posted at the mall into the coming weeks."
