With the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issuing a number of recalls for unsafe items that could potentially cause harm to consumers, some retailers are not eliminating them from their stores. T.J. Maxx (TJX), Marshalls, and HomeGoods failed to remove the following products from their store shelves, prompting a recall of 19 items that could cause infant fatalities, fires, burning, choking, falls, lacerations, skin irritations, explosions, or other injuries .

The recall affects about 1,200 units that were recalled between 2014 and 2019. Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled products immediately and contact the recalling companies to receive a remedy for the item, which may include a refund, repair, or replacement.

The recalled products include:

  • Fisher-Price Inclined Sleeper Accessory for Ultra-Lite Day & Night Play Yards: The inclined sleepers were sold from October 2014 to June 2019, and were recalled because they may cause infant fatalities. Fisher-Price is offering a refund on the product.   • ION Audio Portable Speakers: The speakers were sold from March 2016 to March 2019, and were recalled because hydrogen gas can leak from the battery when charging, causing the speaker to explode.   • Carter’s Children’s Cardigan Sets: The cardigan sets were sold from July 2017 to March 2018, and were recalled because the toggle button can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.
