Moreover, feline beings are extremely popular in anime and we are diving into some of the cutest cats in anime.

  • Jiji from "Kiki's Delivery Service" – Jiji is Kiki's companion who is working hard to become a witch. He is a humble cat and is always ready to help Kiki in any way possible.
  • Kuro from "Blue Exorcist" – Kuro was initially a big monster cat and Rin is tasked to defeat him. However, when he learns about Kuro's history, they start to bond with each other. Eventually, Kuro becomes Rin's ally. This playful cat has two tails, which is considered holy in ancient Japan.
  • Nekobasu from "My Neighbor Totoro" – Nekobasu, which literally means cat bus, appeared in the 1988 Japanese anime fantasy film "My Neighbor Totoro" by Studio Ghibli. Director Hayao Miyazaki's world of fantasy sees cats as mystical beings. Nekobasu is, interestingly, showcased as a transport bus that stopped before Mei, Totoro, and Satsuki in a forest.
  • Meowth from "Pokémon" – This is an adorable tiny feline Pokémon with two cream-colored whiskers on each side of its face. Meowth is majorly a nocturnal cat and usually hunts weaker Pokémon for food indicating it is carnivorous. At level 28, Meowth evolves into Persian. There are two other forms of Meowth called Galarian Meowth and Alolan Meowth.
  • Blair from "Soul Eater" – Blair is a cat witch who loves to play pranks. In her cat form, Blair appears purple with big yellow eyes and a long tail. She looks criminally cute in her tiny witch hat.
  • Happy from "Fairy Tail" – Happy is, technically, not a cat but a magical creature known as Exceed. He came out from an egg but his behavior and looks resemble a cat. Happy is a jolly being who can talk, fly and do other cat-like activities.
  • Kirara from "Inuyasha" – Sango's faithful companion, Kirara is a demon cat and is mostly used for transportation. The two-tailed Kirara has light yellow fur with big black eyes and pointed ears. Apart from being cute, Kirara can also transform from a kitten to a giant cat that looks like a saber.
  • Korin from "Dragon Ball" – The iconic 800-year-old cat is known for his wisdom. Korin lives atop a big tower and is also a martial arts master who taught Master Roshi and Yamcha.
  • Kyo Sohma from "Fruits Basket" – In the "Fruits Basket" universe, Kyo is a full-grown adult who is cursed by the spirit of the Chinese zodiac animal – the Cat. Kyo was introduced in the First Year arc of the anime series. He was challenged by Yuki to a battle. However, Kyo, Yuki, and Shigure ended up getting embraced by the titular character Tohru. After the embrace, Kyo, Yuki, and Shigure transformed into their respective zodiac curse form. Since Kyo was a cat, he was treated as an outsider by his family.
