Aaron Carter was on good terms with his older brother Nick Carter before he passed away over the weekend, according to the late singer's rep.

The "I Want Candy" singer's complicated relationship with the Backstreet Boys member was placed in the spotlight after Aaron was found dead at his home in Palmdale, California, Saturday at age 34.

However, a rep for the late pop star told Hollywood Life Monday that the brothers were "finally in a good place" before Aaron's untimely death.

"[Aaron] was on the path to making amends with so many people in his life, and he had made amends and made peace with Nick," the rep said.

"Aaron was happy about this because he loved his brother," the rep continued. "He looked up to Nick in so many ways. They were trying to make everything good again."

Nick paid tribute to his younger brother in an emotional Instagram post on Sunday. Alongside a series of throwback photos with Aaron, the singer wrote on Facebook, "My heart is broken."

"Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded. I have always held on to the hope that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed," Nick wrote.

He continued, "Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss, but the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here. I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know. I love you Chizz. Now you can finally have the peace you could never find here on earth....I love you, baby brother."

On Sunday, Nick broke down in tears during a tribute to Aaron at a Backstreet Boys concert in London. While performing "No Place," the singer cried as his bandmates A.J. McLean, Brian Littrell and Howie Dorough embraced him, Page Six reported.

Bandmate Kevin Richardson addressed the crowd, saying, "Tonight we've got heavy hearts because we lost one of our family members yesterday, and we just wanted to find a moment in our show to recognize him. Nick's little brother, Aaron Carter passed away yesterday. He's a part of our family."

Aaron was found unresponsive in his bathtub in his California home. His death was confirmed by Taylor Helgeson, his representative at Big Umbrella Management.

"The family has been notified and will be flying out to Los Angeles," the rep said. "Aaron worked very hard towards the end of his life in recovery, to be a good father and to make amends with his family."

Aaron is survived by his 11-month-old son Prince, whom he shared with his ex-fiancée Melanie Martin.
