The surgery was not major or life threatening, but still my father died,” the victim’s son, identified as Brijesh Prasad, said, according to The Times of India.

His family reportedly held protests outside the clinic after they were told about the death of the man.

“He was fit enough to drive his bike to a hospital where an X-ray confirmed fracture in his right hand following which he was advised surgery,” he said.

The surgery was conducted Sunday night, and within four hours “we were told that my father has been put on ventilator.”

“After a few hours, they told us that he passed away,” Brijesh reportedly said.

Eyewitnesses told the local media the family members protested, calling for justice. Senior police officers arrived at the scene and filed a complaint against the clinic.

“We are constituting a team under additional chief medical officer Dr A P Singh to conduct inspections of private hospitals,” Chief Medical Officer Dr Manoj Agrawal reportedly said.
