The Disney Channel announced on Saturday that actor Stoney Westmoreland had been fired from his recurring role on the sitcom "Andi Mack" after his arrest Friday in Salt Lake City for allegedly attempting to have a sexual relationship with an online acquaintance whom he believed was 13 years old.

Salt Lake City Police said Westmoreland, 48, used an app to send explicit pictures and attempted to meet up with the minor at a hotel. He was charged with enticing a minor and sending inappropriate materials.

Westmoreland was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail and held on a $30,000 bond, according to KUTV, a CBS affiliate.

"Given the nature of the charges and our responsibility for the welfare of employed minors, we have released him from his recurring role and he will not be returning to work on the series which wraps production on its third season next week," said the Disney Channel statement.

"Andi Mack" is shot in the Salt Lake City area and is in its third season. The show follows a teenage girl and her friends in middle school.

Westmoreland appeared in 38 episodes in the role of Ham Mack, the main character's grandfather.

According to IMBD.com, Westmoreland began his television and film career in 1996. He appeared in eight episodes of the ABC show "Scandal" as Secret Service agent Hal Rimbeau and in the 2016 film "War Dogs," among many other credits. In 2017, he co-directed and co-wrote a short film, "Self Esteem."
