“Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3 will focus on bringing Inhumans to a new team, but they might not get along with the old team members. The first photo from Season 3 shows Mack (Henry Simmons) and Lincoln (Luke Mitchell) looking very tense while talking to each other. Skye (Chloe Bennet) looks concerned about her pals.

The photo, exclusive to TVLine, seems to echo one of Lincoln and Mack’s scenes in the “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” trailer. Mack tells the Inhuman, also known as Spark Plug, that he isn’t afraid of him. “I’m not scared of you,” Mack says.

“You should be,” Lincoln replies.

Skye, who will start going by Daisy, could easily get caught in the middle. She bonded with Lincoln plenty in Season 2 and even seemed to have a few romantic sparks with him. However, Daisy and Mack will be the best of friends this year as well. That might be surprising considering their differences, but according to Entertainment Weekly, they’ll be just like “X-Files” characters Mulder and Scully. “The person who’s skeptical of alien stuff and the person who has it inside of her,” executive producer Jed Whedon explained.

Luckily, the tension between Lincoln and Mack probably won’t last long. Executive producer Jeff Bell said that the team will not be divided this year. The new ATCU (Advanced Threat Containment Unit) will force the agents to be a united front. “They really are against us, which forces our team to come together,” Bell told TVLine, “whereas we were splintered last season.”

“Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3 premieres Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 9 p.m. EDT on ABC.
