Actress Amber Heard will be taking a break from social media as she prepares to face off against her ex-husband Johnny Depp in court.

On Saturday, the actress shared an Instagram post, informing her 4.1 million followers of her plans to take a step away from social media due to her upcoming $50 million libel trial.

“I’m going to go offline for the next several weeks. As you may know, I’ll be in Virginia where I face my ex-husband Johnny Depp in court. Johnny is suing me for an op-ed I wrote in the Washington Post, in which I recounted my experience of violence and domestic abuse,” she stated.

Heard noted that she never named Depp in the piece but reflected on how women are subjected to punishment when they speak out about powerful men.

“I continue to pay that price, but hopefully when this case concludes, I can move on and so can Johnny. I have always maintained a love for Johnny, and it brings me great pain to have to live out the details of our past life together in front of the world.”

Heard revealed that she has “maintained a love” for Depp despite their split but is not happy about having to publicly relive their past.

The “Aquaman” actress wrapped up her post by thanking those who have stood by her throughout her divorce from Depp, and the legal battles that followed.

“At this time, I recognize the ongoing support I’ve been fortunate to receive through these years, and in these coming weeks I will be leaning on it more than ever,” Heard added.

The upcoming legal battle between the former couple comes after Depp lost his defamation lawsuit against The Sun tabloid. The actor attempted to sue the outlet for labeling him a “wife-beater” in an article.

Depp and Heard’s upcoming libel trial is expected to begin on Monday in Fairfax County, Virginia.
